Etiopia is home to numerous endemic beetle species, including many from the subfamily Prioninae, due to its geographic isolation, diverse terrain, and unique climatic conditions. Altitudinal variations create distinct microhabitats that drive species evolution, particularly among large beetles like Prioninae. Long-term isolation of certain regions has fostered the development of unique forms within this subfamily. The country’s rich biodiversity and relatively undisturbed ecosystems further support the persistence of these endemic Prioninae species.
