[= Cantharocnemis kraatzi (Thomson, 1860)]
[= Cantharocnemis Cantharoplastys kraatzi (Ferreira & Veiga Ferreira, 1959)]
[= Cantharoplatys kraatzi (Quentin & Villiers, 1981)]

ℹ  Information: Cantharocnemis kraatzi is larger species within the genus. The coloration is typically dark brown, but it's not uncommon to find individuals ranging from reddish to almost black. Sexual dimorphism is minimal – females are nearly identical to males, differing primarily by their slightly bulkier bodies and shorter antennae. This rare species inhabits the Ethiopian massif, where it is found primarily in well-preserved forests at elevations up to 2500 meters.

Body length: 30 - 42 mm
Peak activity: March - May, October - December

⚠  Remarks: The species occurs during the main rainy season, occasionally in the off-season. During the day, it hides under the bark, in various crevices. They are active at night when they come out of hiding. They are often attracted to light sources.
