Osmoderma cristinae Sparacio, 1994

[= Osmoderma eremitum meridionale Tauzin, 1994]

ℹ  Information: Osmoderma cristinae, is a rare endemic species from northern Sicily, described by Sparacio in 1994 from the Madonie Mountains (Piano Zucchi). The species occurs only in a few localities in the summer months. 

Body length: 25 - 30 mm 
Peak activity: May - July


⚠  Remarks: Montane species, found at medium altitudes. In the hollows of old trees (especially oaks, planes and maples). Adults are only exceptionally found on flowers, usually they stay in the same tree hollow where the larvae develop. Adult males emit characteristicsweet odour.
