Information: Mesoprionus persicus is a species of longhorn beetle primarily found in the Zagros Mountains, spanning across Iran and Iraq, with a range extending into eastern Turkey.
In Iran, it inhabits the semi-steppe woodlands of the Zagros region, where Quercus brantii, the beetle's main host plant, is prevalent. Mesoprionus persicus is nocturnal, with both males and females frequently attracted to artificial light sources.
Body length: 20 - 40 mm
Peak activity: May - July
Remarks: During the day, the beetles hide under the bark, pieces of wood on the ground, in tree crevices near the ground or in leaves, for example. They activate shortly after dark. They are often enticing to a light trap.
