Information: Homothyrea thoracica, is distributed mainly along the southern coast of the Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa. The species was originally described as Cetonia thoracica by Schaum in 1841, with only "Arabia" as the locality.

Remarks: The species mainly prefers flowers of Asteraceae, trees and shrubs Adenium Roemer & Schultes, Tamarix Linnaeus and Mimosoideae (formerly referred to as the genus Acacia Miller).
In Oman, it is found only in the southern province of Dhofar near the border with Yemen, mainly after the monsoon season in August.
