ℹ  Information: The species was described as Megacephala euphratica from the Euphrates River in Iraq by Dejean in 1822. 
M. euphratica is a Palaearctic species with a wide distribution and (ouches the African fauna at t ie coasts of the Red Sea. The former two subspecies M. (G.) euphratica nigra W. Horn, 1899 and M. (G.) euphratica aida Mandi, 1959 were established due to black and red specimens from Egypt and Djibouti, but they have been le cently synonymized by WERNER (1999). A series of M. euphratica (s. str.) was collected al night, running close to light sources, not far from the coastal line of the Mediterrean Sea in Israel (E. ORBACH, pers. comm.).

Peak activity: January - December (depends on region)

⚠  Remarks: The species is common throughout its range near rivers. Active at night.
