Information: Dorcadion optatum, was described by Jakovlev in 1906 from the Tokmok region of northern Kyrgyzstan. Danilevsky later divided it into several subspecies that overlap each other and are found only in the northern part of Kyrgyzstan.

Information: Subspecies, D. optatum toropyginae, has been described from Ala-Archa NP environs (Kyrgyzstan) by Danilevsky in 1999. The subspecies inhabits tall meadows on both sides of the Ala-Archa Narrow.

Information: Subspecies, D. optatum vallesum, has been described from Kamyshanovka environs (Kyrgyzstan) as Dorcadion tianshanskii vallesum by Danilevsky in 1999. The subspecies inhabits ow hilly plain along the middle level of the river Chu, southwards from the Chu-Ili Mountains.

Information: Subspecies, D. optatum kadyrbekovi, has been described from Kek-Too Mts. environs (Kyrgyzstan) by Danilevsky in 1999. The subspecies inhabits highest meadows of the Kek-Too Mt. near the Chu river between the Chong Kemin river and the Kichi-Kemin river.

Information: Subspecies, D. optatum terminum, has been described from Georgievka environs (Kazakhstan) by Danilevsky in 1999. Only one population of the subspecies is known. It is located in the foothills east of Georgievka, at an altitude of about 700 m, along the border between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
