Information: Bembidion montislunae, is a new species that belongs to the subgenus Ocyturane, group "marginipenne" and is the first species discovered in the Arabian Peninsula.
Colour: head and pronotum brown, basal two thirds of elytra light brown, apical third of elytra brown with two oblique subapical yellowish spots extending from stria 3 to 8. Appendages completely yellow-orange.
Body length: 5.3 mm
Peak activity: August - September
Remarks: A new species that has only been described from a single specimen that I caught in southern Oman during the monsoons on a light trap.
Etymology: [Derivatio nominis] The name derives from the Latin translation of the Arabic name of the mountain range Jabel Al-Qamar (“mounts of the moon”). It is in genitive, meaning “of the moon’s mountains”.
